Rev. Jay Voorhees

Biscuit Drop and Other 018 The Reverend Jay Voorhees has been the appointed pastor of the Antioch United Methodist Church since 2003, having come to Antioch from the Bellevue United Methodist Church. First ordained as a United Methodist pastor in 1998, Jay comes with a background in communications and event management, working on a variety of projects for the UMC since 1984. Jay is well known throughout the United Methodist Church as a leader and writer.

Since 2002, Jay has been involved with Emergent Village, a group of church leaders looking at ministry in the postmodern era. Jay has spoken at several events about his vision for the church, and writes on life in both the emerging and United Methodist worlds via his blog, Only Wonder Understands.

Jay is also the managing editor of The MethoBlog, a website devoted to conversation among United Methodists.

Jay is married to the Rev. Kay Hereford Voorhees, a pastor in the Tennessee Annual Conference serving another church (which is why you never see her at AUMC!) and is the proud father of Grace and Anna.
