Love Came Down – Christmas Eve at AUMC

December 16, 2009
By jvoorhees
thumbnail Some 2000 years ago, God’s love broke through in a new way through the birth of Jesus Christ. The people of the Antioch United Methodist Church will celebrate that love through the worship of God on Christmas Eve, and invites all in our community to be a part of celebrating the birth of Jesus. We will be offering two services, both featuring communion and candlelight, that are designed to help persons of all ages connect with the story of the birth of Christ.
Jesus Holy Birthday – A “Kid Friendly” Service of Worship
5 p.m. in the AUMC Sanctuary
Christmas is a busy time for families, and it’s tough for kids to sit through an “adult” service, so we offer this opportunity for children of all ages to worship in a format that is geared toward the younger among us. Children are invited to come in costume, dressing up as angels, shepherds, or wise guys, and will be invited to participate directly in the service. The service will include music and multimedia to help all connect to the story of Jesus at a time which allows families to get home and get kids in bed at a reasonable hour.
Love Came Down – A Service of Lessons and Carols
11 p.m. in the AUMC Sanctuary
Love Came Down is a “traditional” service of worship which focuses on the story of Jesus as shared in the scriptures. Through song and story we will welcome Christmas again, remembering how love came into the world to make us new.
